It is a personal affront to the 3000 persons killed by Islamic terrorists on 9/11 to build an Islamic cultural center including a mosque so close to ground zero in lower Manhattan. Sure, we have Freedom of Religion here in America which they do not have in Islamic countries but to want to build a mosque so close to ground zero is very suspect and insensitive. The imam in charge has said many incendiary comments also and in spite of an all expense trip to the Middle East at our expense does not seem to promote tolerance and acceptance.

Remember the Khobar towers, the Marine barracks in Lebanon,  the USS Cole, the American embassies in Africa, the First World Trade Center Bombing,  9/11, the Christmas day bomber, the Ft. Hood Shooting, the underwear bomber, the Times Square bomber? Not all Muslims are terrorists but it does seem that most terrorists are Muslims. That is a fact. We are fighting radical Islamic Terrorism! Wake up America!

I have had Muslim friends and they both liked Jews but hated Israel. I would argue for hours with them. Jews like to argue you know. I told Mustafa that God gave the Jews the land and he would never get it. He asked if God were a Century 21 Agent. I answered I guess so in a manner of speaking he was right. I told him to read the Bible. He never did but I read the Koran and was more convinced of the Bible’s efficacy.  Tarik liked Jews who were most of his mentors and colleagues but he too hated Israelis for stealing his land. Those feelings are deep and hard to dispel no matter how much tolerance and good will. They both wanted Israel to be thrown into the Sea. I told both of them they were intelligent and must have been really Jews. They scoffed.

I told both on them that their people the Muslims and my people the Jews would still be fighting over the land in Hell . They both were doomed without Jesus. That woke them both up. They could not figure out what I was a Jew or a Christian. I said both. I had a Jewish head and a Christian heart. They both told me that Allah was another name for God. I answered that my God was not a pagan moon god. We were great friends as long as the name of Israel did not come up. It was a microcosm of today's screwed up world. God help us.

Stephen Yulish PhD has a BA in Human Evolution and a MA and a PHD in History. He was a Professor at the University of Arizona and later a Jewish community professional.
